Dazzled by Divas

On October 7, 2006 WWE.com introduced us to Daily Diva, a segment that would showcase a single Diva each day. Ironically the first ever Diva to be showcased would go on to be the first Divas Champion, first Diva to hold the Divas and then Women’s Championship, as well as the first Diva to hold both titles at the same time! That’s right Michelle McCool was the first Daily Diva ever! 

Last night WWE.com team member and former broadcaster Joey Styles made this announcement on his Twitter page regarding the return of the Diva Focus:

Because of your hundreds of tweets, Diva Focus will replace Daily Diva on WWE.COM starting in January.

Daily Diva has been around for almost 5 years. It’s a bit sad to see it go, but I’m excited to get the Diva Focus shoots back. Lately the Daily Diva’s have been featured in never before seen pictures. Unfortunately we’ve only been getting just ONE picture, and not a whole shoot. Don’t worry Diva fans, lets take a look back at past and present Divas who have been featured!

We go backstage where Daniel Bryan is icing his shoulder down. Brie Bella walks up and they start flirting. Nikki Bella comes up next and vies for his attention. Alex Riley walks up and asks them why they’re flirting with a nerd. Riley talks to The Miz on his Bluetooth. Riley tells the Bellas they aren’t needed now. Riley tells Bryan he missed out by not having Miz guide him on NXT. Riley welcomes them to Mizfest 2010 and walks off. The Bellas and Bryan mock Riley as we go to commercial.  Gail Kim, Melina and Natalya vs. Maryse, Alicia Fox and Tamina

 

Out first for the next match comes Maryse, Alicia Fox and Tamina. Their opponents Melina, Gail Kim and Divas Champion Natalya are out next. Melina and Maryse start things out and go back and forth. Alicia Fox is tagged in and continues the assault on Melina. Melina fights off Alicia but gets tackled to the mat again. Alicia mounts Melina but Melina fights her off. All of a sudden, we hear Santino Marella singing. Santino comes out to the ramp and sings while playing the guitar. Tamina sees this and rushes off the apron to meet him on the ramp. Tamina and Santino lock eyes and she pulls him into a big headlock. Tamina walks off with Santino. 

In the ring, Natalya is tagged in. She unloads on Alicia and goes for the Sharpshooter. Maryse runs in but Gail Kim takes her out. Natalya drops Alicia again and locks on the Sharpshooter for the submission and the win. 

Winners: Natalya, Gail Kim and Melina 

We go backstage and see Ted DiBiase playing with a toy WWE Title belt. Maryse walks in and is upset that he’s not going for the real title. Maryse says Ted is the guy who tapped out to a geek smaller than her. Maryse says he is making her look bad. She goes on but Ted yells at her to shut up and walks off. 

WWE Diva Eve Torres missed last night’s three-hour RAW because she is preparing to leave the United States today for Afghanistan. Eve, Vince McMahon, Kelly Kelly and Big Show are heading overseas today to visit the troops on a goodwill tour. Footage will be filmed to air on WWE’s Tribute to the Troops special later in December. 

The former Diva Champion Collective Michelle McCool and Layla come out. Michelle wants the music cut off and they say that they are not in the mood. They say it is the worst week ever. It started on Sunday when Natalya stole their title. Michelle says that the belt doesn’t even look good on her. Layla calls her a cheating, unshaven liar. Then on Monday, Natalya got them kicked out of Raw. Michelle wants to know who would do that. Michelle calls Natalya a hater. Michelle and Layla say they hate Raw. Layla points out that they are in Michelle’s home town. Michelle says that everyone looks amazing and gorgeous, but she is not sincere. Michelle says that they have each other and Layla says that they will always be Flawless.  Michelle McCool with Layla versus Kelly Kelly 

Before the match starts, Layla tries to get the Kelly Kelly odor out of the ring with some air freshener, but Kelly kicks Layla from the apron to the floor. 

Kelly with a rollup for a near fall when Michelle charges at her. Michelle with a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Michelle slams Kelly’s head into the mat and then kicks her in the back of the head and then connects with a series of knees to the midsection. Michelle drops Kelly on the top rope and then she tries for the McCool Clash but Kelly holds on to the ropes so Michelle lets her go and Kelly falls to the mat. Michelle takes too long with her next move and Kelly with a rollup for the three count. 

Winner: Kelly Kelly 

After the match, Michelle attacks Kelly from behind and then Layla joins in the attack. Beth Phoenix’s music plays in the building and Michelle and Layla appear to have acquired Rage Deafness because they don’t realize that Beth has come to the ring since they continue to attack Kelly. Beth hits Michelle with a double sledge to the back and then Beth clotheslines Layla. Beth with a Polish Hammer to Michelle and then she hits the Glam Slam on Michelle. Beth checks on Kelly and raises her arm since she won the match. 

Layla checks on Michelle and then she sees Beth in the ring and she screams. 

It’s confirmed, Kelly said it! Kelly Kelly was guest Bubba The Love Sponge show, and she said that her and Justin are together, and she would like to marry him, if he asked.

The latest edition of WWE Superstars didn’t feature a Divas match! But we did see Tamina accompany the Usos to the ring for a match against Mark Henry, which they lost! We also saw the return of WWE ring announcer/ Diva Ashley Valance.

The third-generation Diva helped Mae Young embarrass Team Lay-Cool on Raw, but she couldn’t beat SmackDown’s mean girls in tag action on Friday night.

19 TEAM LAY-COOL: LAYLA & MICHELLE McCOOL

After an embarrassing loss to Mae Young on Raw, SmackDown’s mean girls bounced back with a win over Natalya & Kelly Kelly on Friday night.

No worries Jillian fans! While WWE released Jillian Hall as an active performer last week, she remains with the company and will be training Divas at FCW in Florida. 

There’s a feeling that unless it’s someone like Mickie James or Matt Hardy, a top star they feel that WWE made, it’s going to be difficult for any of the released WWE talents to get hired. 

No word yet if TNA is talking to any of the former WWE Superstars or Divas (Tiffany and Jillian) that were fired last week but it’s likely that none of them will be brought in any time soon or even when their non-compete clauses expire with WWE. 

Footage aired of Aksana being eliminated. Focus was then placed on the remaining rookies, A.J., Naomi, and A.J. The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Michael Cole welcomed us to the show and said there were only two weeks left.  Matt Striker brought out the rookies. Kaitlyn wore a shirt that said, “I love mustaches.” Josh Mathews checked in and said he liked Kaitlyn’s trucker style hat. WWE Trivia is the first competition of the night. 

The first set of questions pertained to NXT. Striker stopped the competition because Cole and Josh were having a conversation. It was also announced that there would be no more immunity. Cole was lounging and facing the audience while texting. The second round of questions included Madison Square Garden, Undertaker, Fabulous Moolah, Tribute to the Troops, and Triple H as the answers. A.J.as usual, dominated the competition. 

Up next Kaitlyn vs Nikki Bella

Nikki Bella (with Brie Bella) defeated Kaitlyn (with Vickie Guerrero) in 3:22. Kaitlyn was powerful and aggressive with her offense. Nikki has improved. Nice snapmare and dropkick. She applied a submission, sort of a quad stretch of sorts. The announcers started talking about Miz and the signs in the crowd. Nikki hit what I think is her finisher for the win. Vickie yelled at Kaitlyn and she didn’t want to hear it… 

Cole went from joking to serious quickly when talking about John Cena saying goodbye last night. Footage was then shown from Cena’s very good farewell speech.

WWE.com has an exclusive interview with NEW Diva’s Champion Natalya! Here it is:

As Natalya fell to her knees clasping her new Divas Championship, her eyes began to well with tears. She had finally done it. This accolade was hers. Something she had wanted for such a long time was no longer just a dream. At Survivor Series, it became reality.

“I felt like I couldn’t stand up, I was so overwhelmed with emotion,” the new Divas Champion told WWE.com. “I really just took in every bit of it.”

The pink-and-black clad Diva has been fighting her way to the top for a decade, and at times, wondered if she’d ever reach the pinnacle of WWE – holding a championship. Natalya found herself doubting that her time would come, but never lost sight of her dream.

“When you’ve found what your dream is, like I did mine, it makes you go to the gym. It makes you work harder. It makes you do the things you need to do to reach it. That dream, it makes you tick,” Natalya explained of her mindset over the years.

And carrying the last name “Hart,” Natalya also knows that there will be numerous comparisons to her legendary lineage, both positive and negative. And although she is extremely grateful and honored to be in such an historic family, the third-generation Diva also knows she is much different.

“I really get to share this with my family,” the only female graduate of the Hart Dungeon said. “My dad kept saying how proud he is of me. He also said he had originally told me not to get into this business because he didn’t want to see me get hurt,” Natalya revealed. “I proved him wrong,” she said with a grin.

The Melina/Morrison butt slap segment on RAW last night appears to be WWE’s way of showing that the pair are a real life couple.

Alicia Fox’s sister Christina Crawford made her FCW wrestling debut this past week at a developmental show. Crawford, under the name Caylee Turner, teamed with Rosa Mendes and Aksana to lose to AJ Lee, Kaitlyn and Naomi Knight.

Daniel Bryan was playing dumb to the Bellas advances on RAW and said the following on his Twitter page:

What’s the deal with the Bellas? I have absolutely ZERO idea.

Guess Daniel doesn’t understand that he’s a ladies man!
